Founded in 1997, The Redwoods Group is a privately held, socially conscious organization that operates as a highly specialized provider of property/casualty insurance underwriting, risk management and claims adjusting services. Our mission is to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.

Our business is focused on three customer groups: YMCAs, Jewish Community Centers and resident camps. Redwoods, which has more than 20 years of experience in the YMCA camping environment, recently announced an Insurance Program exclusively for resident camps. In 2005, we launched an Insurance Program for JCCs. We modeled our JCC business after our work with YMCAs and camps since these organizations share the same risks of drowning, abuse, injury and vehicular accidents.

What's in a Name?
The noble redwood trees of the John Muir Woods in California inspired our group's name. For us, the name Redwoods represents the majesty, durability, and staying power of the ancient redwood trees. And just as a new redwood tree grows from the roots of its parent tree, The Redwoods Group looks to its roots, serving customer-service-oriented businesses and organizations, when building its business. We form alliances with customer groups we know and understand so that we can help them improve their business by sharing our knowledge of risk management. The Redwoods Group partners with its clients to stand up to the many challenges of today’s changing world and succeed at what matters most, serving the communities in which we live and work.

Redwood trees have persisted for millennia because of their ability to adapt in the face of changing conditions without compromising their stature. In the process, we strengthen the bonds that hold a community together.

So what's in a name? For us it is the staying power of the redwoods and their quiet ability to inspire a community to strengthen the bonds that hold it together. It is their ability to adapt to the conditions in which they live without compromising their essential character.
