Kevin A. Trapani

CO-FOUNDER AND CEO

Kevin A. Trapani has been CEO of The Redwoods Group since its inception in 1997. Prior to the formation of The Redwoods Group, Kevin was Executive Vice President of Burlington Insurance Group; Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer of Coregis Insurance Group; held senior leadership positions at Great American Insurance Companies and the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies; and started the first statewide HMO in New Jersey. A 1979 Duke University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Kevin is a regular speaker at Duke University’s Hart Center for Ethical Leadership. Kevin has been named one of the 50 most influential leaders in the state of North Carolina for his deep involvement in multiple philanthropic interests and his leadership of what is broadly recognized as one of the most innovative socially conscious for profit companies in the nation.


Gareth Hedges, JD

PRESIDENT

Gareth Hedges was named President of The Redwoods Group in 2017. In his over 14 years with Redwoods, Gareth has served as Chief Claims Officer, General Counsel, Director of Consulting, and as a Risk Management Specialist focused on Aquatic and Child Safety. Gareth has trained thousands of staff and has presented at the National Drowning Prevention Symposium, Association of Aquatics Professionals Annual Conference, the World Conference on Drowning Prevention, World Aquatic Health Conference, and the American Camp Association National Conference, among others. He was on the CDC’s drowning prevention expert panel in 2011 and sits on the advisory committee for the National Drowning Prevention Alliance. In 2012, Aquatics International named Gareth as one of the “Power 25” leaders in the aquatics community. Gareth serves as the Vice Chair for the Darkness to Light Board of Directors and is a member of the Board for Habitat for Humanity of Durham. Mr. Hedges received a BS in Public Policy from Georgia Tech in 2003, and a JD from Albany Law School in 2009. He lives in Durham, North Carolina with his wife Nicole, and daughter Eleanor.


Jennifer A. Trapani

CO-FOUNDER AND CHIEF UNDERWRITING OFFICER

Jennifer Trapani is Co-Founder and Chief Underwriting Officer for The Redwoods Group. Prior to her role at Redwoods, she was the YMCA Program Manager for Coregis/Westport Insurance Company, and has been responsible for this program since 1990. Prior to working for Coregis, Jennifer was an underwriter with Industrial Indemnity Insurance Company, and she is a 1989 graduate of California State University at Sacramento. Jennifer is currently the chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Durham Habitat for Humanity.


Paige Bagwell

CHIEF EXPERIENCE OFFICER

Paige joined The Redwoods Group in 2015 as the Chief Talent Officer and is currently our Chief Experience Officer. In Paige’s prior role as the Director of Operations and Communications, she oversaw the entire business operations of The Salvation Army in Wake and Lee Counties. She currently serves on the board at The Salvation Army. Paige received her Bachelor’s in Public Communication from Appalachian State University, and earned a Master’s of Public Communication from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. Her previous experience includes positions with a regional construction company in human resources and safety management as well as a local community bank as assistant vice president in human resources and marketing. Paige grew up in Garner, North Carolina, and lives in Raleigh with her husband, Jody and two daughters, Lyla and Molly.


Daniel Norber

CHIEF DATA OFFICER

Dan Norber is the Chief Data Officer at The Redwoods Group. He first joined Redwoods in 2013 as a Consulting Team lead, and spent four years in leadership roles in the Consulting department, including Vice President. Dan joined Redwoods after completing his MBA at Duke University, where he led the Fuqua’s Sustainable Business and Social Impact (SBSI) Conference, the largest social enterprise conference in the Southeast. Prior to Redwoods, Dan was the Senior Financial Analyst at Mintel International Group, an international market research firm. Dan grew up in St. Louis, MO (Go Cardinals!), graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Finance from the University of Miami (FL) and currently lives in Durham, NC with his wife Lauren and their two daughters, Jocelyn and Miriam.


Dan Baum

CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER

Dan Baum serves as both the Director of Global Impact, leading Redwoods’ efforts to scale outside of the US, and as the Executive Director of The Redwoods Group Foundation. His time at Redwoods began as a summer intern, and has included consulting with Redwoods customers on building cultures of safety, launching the Redwoods Institute and supporting collective impact efforts around child protection through the Foundation. Through Redwoods, he has used his annual volunteer hours to build with Habitat for Humanity Global Village trips, facilitate immersive diversity retreats, and march for Voting Rights with the NAACP. He holds both a BS in Economics and an MBA in Social Entrepreneurship from Duke University.


Robin Murchison

CHIEF OF STAFF

Robin Murchison is Chief of Staff with The Redwoods group, starting with Redwoods in 2015. Prior to joining Redwoods, Robin managed the Community Education Program for Collier County Public Schools, after spending a decade in a variety of roles at the YMCA in Naples, Florida. Her experience at the Y included brand management and communications, as well as various community health outreach initiatives. She was a founding board member for the Safe & Healthy Children’s Coalition of Collier County. Robin received a Bachelor’s in Biology from Allegheny College, and an MBA from Florida Gulf Coast University. Robin lives in Apex with her husband, Jim and two sons, Colin and Landon.


Fatima Dean

VICE PRESIDENT OF UNDERWRITING

Fatima joined Redwoods in 2002 and now serves as the Vice President of Underwriting. Her career began with State Farm Insurance Company in Charlottesville, VA where she was an intern and later an Underwriter in the Personal Lines Division. After relocating to Raleigh, she worked as a Senior Underwriter at Highlands Insurance Group before finding her way to Redwoods. Her previous roles at Redwoods include Associate Underwriter, Underwriter/Senior Underwriter and Director of Underwriting Operations. Fatima is a Virginia native and received her B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia. While Fatima is a career underwriter, she enjoys the blend of insurance and deep mission that she has found at Redwoods. Outside of work, Fatima is passionate about her work as a volunteer with Dress for Success as a career coach helping to empower women to achieve economic independence. Fatima lives in Garner, NC with her husband, James and children, Breelyn and Garrison.


Jody Bagwell

VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF CLAIMS OFFICER


Jody is our Vice President & Chief Claims Officer. Jody joined The Redwoods Group in April 2011. Jody worked for Auto-Owners Insurance Company for over 10 years in NC, SC and MI as a branch claim representative, field claim representative, senior claims examiner and branch claims manager prior to joining The Redwoods Group. Jody is a native and resident of Wake County who earned his Bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University in 1999.
