The 2008 camp season is fast approaching and we are beginning to schedule our training dates.

As many of you know, we train approximately 20,000 camp counselors in the months of May and June every year. Scheduling these trainings involves a lot of detailed coordination. We’ve listed some ways you can help us schedule your training more efficiently so we can train as many camp counselors as possible this summer.

1. Provide your training dates to us as soon as possible.
2. Give multiple options for the training date as we need to organize trainings by geographic location AND date. Please understand that we may need to use your second or third option, so only give us dates that would work for your camp. If a specific date is not important to you, you can provide a range of dates and we will schedule accordingly.
3. Consider whether a live training would be best for your group or if you would prefer facilitating your own training, using our 2008 Camp Safety Training DVD. Many JCOs have had great success using the DVD. To ensure your success, we will be happy to train any of your trainers.
4. Consider coming together with other JCOs in your area, especially if you have a smaller group of camp counselors.

The training session takes about 2 hours and is provided at no cost to you as part of our Risk Management partnership with your JCO

Please fill in the registration information as completely as possible. We will use this information for scheduling and to tailor the training to your camp.

One final note: PLEASE make sure your leadership staff is present for the training. We cannot expect young camp counselors to understand the importance of keeping kids safe at camp if leadership staff does not validate the importance of this training. The best Redwoods trainings are those where we have engaged leadership staff present. Please make this a priority this summer.
